Giants at the stream!

One day Grace told me there were giants marching in our backyard. I thought, Wow! This girl's imagination has gone into overdrive!

Then we went outside to try out their new snowshoes.

Winter Wonderland!

It's a winter wonderland here at the Stream! Keep in mind, our first snowfall was in October... but that melted clean away within the week. We've had several storms since then and the big girls have really enjoyed the snow! Grace wants to help shovel! and Ella, well... she is still developing a taste for the cold.

Nor'easter of no regard

This past week we've been warned of the impending doom: a Nor'easter on its way to wreak havoc. So many preparations were made- some people stocked up on food stuffs and such. Our church even cancelled second service in advance, which has NEVER been done before! While we did indeed receive 6 to 7 inches, a Nor'easter it was not. We ventured out to our 8:30 a.m. church service with nary a flake in the sky. Our return home, around 10:30 a.m., was speckled with snow. We spent most of the day watching the glorious snow fall while snuggling at home, except when Ben went to borrow a necessary lunch ingredient (hard to have creamy chicken and rice when there is no cream soup in the pantry!) from our great neighbors, Amy and Tobey, and parked his car in the ditch to allow the massive State of Maine snowplow to pass. Praise God for AAA!

Of course, my perspective on snow has changed drastically since our move up here. As an "assimilated Mainer" I certainly deal with snow differently than I did in Ohio. Just this past week I've driven home from work (a nice 25 mile jaunt) twice in what might have been considered snow level 2 or 3. But, there are no snow levels here- Mainers know how to handle snow! As for school cancellations... while Ohio will cancel for freezing wind chill, Mainers say "Wear your hat and scarf today!" Even with the additional half foot of accumulated snow that fell yesterday, the Daddy still had school today. He wasn't even granted the lovely reprieve of a delayed start!
